After School Programs

In partnership with Waterbury Public Schools and with support from the State of Connecticut Department of Education 21st Century Learning Center, the Museum welcomes elementary and middle school students throughout the academic year for out-of-school academic and fine arts enrichment learning opportunities.

These safe and high-quality programs offer homework support, increase student knowledge about their community and help them gain lifelong benefits such as an appreciation for the arts, history and museums. All programs further student achievement by providing meaningful opportunities to collaborate with peers and develop critical thinking and creative problem solving skills.

Museum 101

Led by Museum Educators and Teaching Artists, this multi-visit program is presented through differentiated instruction to multiple learning levels. For four consecutive days, students participate in guided tours of the Museum’s art and history galleries, create art and experience dance and improvisational movement. Museum 101 is in conjunction with Waterbury Public School’s 21st Century After School Program.
