The Mattatuck Museum is the cultural destination in the center of Waterbury. The renovation joins the intricately detailed former Masonic Temple with an exciting contemporary architectural design that created new spaces including a bright and open foyer and the only rooftop terrace in downtown Waterbury.

Offering a gorgeous setting, a 180-seat reception space, professionally trained event staff, and plenty of free convenient parking for all your guests, let the Mattatuck Museum help you create the event of your dreams. 


The Mattatuck Museum is dedicated to maintaining a clean and safe environment for every visitor experience. Surfaces are disinfected using a ByoPack Electrostatic Sprayer system. Thank you to our friends at Drew Marine for supplying us with this state of the art cleaning equipment!

The Performing Arts Center (3,600 sq. ft.)
Step off the elevator and be treated to beautiful views of Waterbury’s historic Downtown Green. Located on the 3rd floor, this spacious room features a brand-new sophisticated sound and AV system, and historic charm in a theatrical setting of rich mahogany paneling and neutral wall colors to adapt to any décor. With a seating capacity of 180 guests and 200 for a cocktail-style reception, this room is perfect for cocktails, receptions, wedding ceremonies, meetings & presentations, and more.

The Foyer (3,800 sq. ft.)
Located on the Museum’s main floor, the Foyer offers a versatile space featuring large windows overlooking the Waterbury Green, new polished concrete floors, and upgraded sound system. This large multi-purpose lobby space will provide the perfect setting for wedding ceremonies, birthday parties for kids and adults, corporate meetings, and more.

The Rooftop Terrace (3,500 sq. ft.)
Bring the celebration outside to the terrace overlooking Waterbury’s historic Downtown Green. Whether it be a wedding ceremony, mingling during cocktails, or many other special events, the terrace offers a unique outdoor space with a modern ambiance of urban sophistication.

The Monteiro Family Community Gallery (600 sq. ft.)
The Community Gallery is a changing exhibition space ideal for private meetings, small seminars and small groups for a seated dinner. During normal business hours, the space is available to local non-profits for small meetings one time per year at a nominal fee (dependent on availability), please contact the Museum for details.

The History Exhibit (5,050 sq. ft.)
Surrounded by artifacts and objects from the region’s history, this unique space provides the perfect conversation piece for any reception or medium-sized seated event. Events held in this space must get special approval from the Museum Director.

The Art Galleries (6,645 sq. ft.)
Spacious and classically detailed, these galleries display the Museum’s collections of work by American masters. The galleries are the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos and guests for any special occasion will love viewing the collection during the event.
