2022 MIXMASTER winner Schandra Singh creates dynamic, provocative paintings that comment on social and political uncertainty. The oversized, distorted faces that fill Singh’s canvases confront viewers with their emotions, alternately inspiring empathy and mockery: as she writes, “I hope in my work to challenge the viewer by not didactically presenting one way, but by addressing my fears to express a human condition.”
