MIXMASTER 2027: Legacy—Juried Members’ Exhibition
Baker Gallery
MIXMASTER is a juried exhibition dedicated to uncovering and celebrating the diverse talents of its artist-members who are based in New England and the Tri-State region. Call for art for the 13th annual MIXMASTER Juried Members’ Exhibition opens October 5, 2026, on ArtCall.org and will be reviewed and selected by guest juror Deanna Evans, a curator and gallerist who runs Deanna Evans Projects in New York City. As the Mattatuck Museum celebrates its 150th anniversary, we invite artists to submit recent artwork for our 2027 MIXMASTER exhibition, themed “Legacy.”
We welcome a broad range of interpretations, media, and approaches to the theme. Legacy can be personal, cultural, familial, historical, or collective. It can be found in the traditions passed down and carried through time, the stories and memories that shape and stay with us, places and objects that hold powerful meaning, or the ideas and actions we carry on beyond our time. Legacy can be something we feel empowered to challenge, reclaim, uplift, or transform.
Whether intimate or expansive, celebratory or critical, we call on artists to consider what legacy means to them and how their work carries our legacies forward.
More about this exhibition
The MIXMASTER program aims to support and acknowledge contemporary art in our region, offering a significant platform for artists to showcase their creativity. MIXMASTER provides an opportunity for both established and emerging artists to present work created within the past three years. Through this exhibition, artists gain well-deserved visibility and recognition while museum visitors have the chance to experience a wide array of fresh, innovative art. The exhibition not only highlights the vibrant art scene across New England and the Tri-State area but also fosters a sense of community and appreciation for contemporary artistic expression.
