More about this exhibition
MIXMASTER seeks to discover and recognize the talents of artists in the New England and tri-state region. Created to encourage contemporary art, this exhibition provides an opportunity for established and emerging artists to debut their latest works. Works are selected by Juror Kyle Harris, a Director at Peter Blum Gallery in New York City. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to cast a vote for their favorite work in our gallery voting case or online. The Museum will announce the winner of the Visitor’s Selection Prize at the close of the exhibition.
For the 2022 exhibition, 34 works were chosen for display from over 200 entries. The artists represented in this show display a wide array of styles, techniques, and materials. The common themes, topics, and styles speak to current trends but also the anxieties of the past few years. Several of the artists address climate change and social issues. Others focus on nature and thoughtful interior scenes, perhaps a representation of quarantine and social distancing spaces. The artists who created abstract works encourage reflection and individual interpretations. Together, these works convey the rich variety of art produced across the Northeast today.
