"I am inspired by Black people and Mexican people, my two peoples,” said Elizabeth Catlett (1915-2012), one of the most important Black artists of the 20th century. Best known for her printmaking and sculpture, Catlett enjoyed a long and prolific career spanning more than seven decades. This exhibition explores the nature of Elizabeth Catlett’s body of work and its ability to affect both individual lives and political movements. The 38 works in the exhibition convey her legacy as an artist, teacher, and activist and are a testament to her greatness.
