Hello Waterbury Families,
We’re excited to invite you to participate in a special FREE Family Portrait Day at the Mattatuck Museum on Sunday, November 2! This is a unique opportunity to capture your family’s story and contribute to a meaningful upcoming exhibition celebrating the diversity of our community.
We are specifically looking for Waterbury families that highlight the rich variety of what a family looks like today—including multi-generational households, single parents, guardians, couples with no children, adoptive families, neighbors who are part of the family, and more. If your family has a story to tell, we’d love to see you there!
Important Directions for Participation

Registration is Required: To secure your spot, you must register for a specific time slot in advance. No walk-ins will be allowed.

Arrive Early: Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled portrait session. This time is essential for check-in, signing the required photo waiver (if you haven’t done so already), and potentially starting your short interview early.

The Session: Your photo session will be quick, lasting approximately 10 minutes.

Share Your Story: Immediately following your portrait session, we’ll ask you a short series of questions to help us tell your family’s story.

What You Get: You will receive digital copies of your family portrait within one month of the session.

The Exhibition: Your portrait and story will be featured in an exhibition in the Community Gallery starting in August 2026 (dates are subject to change).
