Why are you hiking?

I am looking forward to this challenging long hike out of my comfort zone while also supporting our local museum. I am hoping that my participation will bring additional financial support and increased awareness of the Mattatuck’s admirable exhibits of local history.

Connection to the Mattatuck:
I’m old enough to remember when the Mattatuck Historical Society was located in the John Kendrick House on the other side of the Green, and the late 1980’s move to the museum’s current location. I also appreciate that a 1946 photo of Somma Tool Company is included in the permanent exhibit of local industry!
