2020 Accepted Artists

Works will be judged by Richard Michelson is the founder of R. Michelson Galleries. MIXMASTER is an exhibition that seeks to discover and recognize the talents of artists working in New England and the Tri-State region. Initiated to support and recognize contemporary art, MIXMASTER provides an opportunity for established and emerging artists to debut their most recent work. The Mattatuck looks forward to highlighting the work of its artist members.

Juror Richard Michelson is the founder of R. Michelson Galleries, currently celebrating its 40th anniversary year. Art originally exhibited at the gallery now hangs in many of the most prestigious museums in America, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Art Institute of Chicago. Gallery sculptors have created some of our nation’s major memorials, from the FDR Memorial in Washington D.C. to the National Anne Frank Memorial in Boise, Idaho. Specializing in the widest interpretation of representational art, the gallery also has the nation’s largest collection of original picture book illustration. Michelson has handled the work of artists as diverse as sculptor/printmaker Leonard Baskin, photographer Leonard Nimoy, painter Rebecca Leveille Guay and picture book illustrators Jerry Pinkney, Virginia Lee Burton and Mo Willems, among many others.

September 23         Submissions begins on CaFÉ (callforentry.org)
November 25          Deadline for submissions on CaFÉ (Late entries will NOT be accepted)
December 10                 Notification via CaFÉ and on mattmuseum.org
December 11-27           Works accepted at Mattatuck Museum from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  
December 29              Deadline for receiving shipped artwork by 5:00 p.m.
January 12             Exhibition Opening; Reception 1:00-3:00 p.m.
February 23           Exhibition closes
March 6-11               Pick-up of all work from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
