Ellipses

Ellipses is a multi-disciplinary art project by Melanie Crean, relating the history of women from the Naugatuck Valley who created social change during the rise of industry in the 1860s, to those working during decline of manufacturing in the 1980s, and socially engaged young women living in the area today.

The project consists of a short films shot on site locally, images of contemporary organizers installed in the Museum’s portrait gallery, and essays about the history of women fighting for their rights, as well as for those around them.
