Family Night – Susan B. Anthony: Failure is Impossible (Virtual)
July 30 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm$5
“Failure is impossible.” So said Susan B. Anthony, a women’s rights activist, who devoted her life to racial, gender, and educational equality. One of the most famous women in American history, she played a prominent role in the women’s suffrage movement; the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote and she also was in support of women’s labor organizations and for a woman’s right to own property. For more than 70 years, women like Susan B. Anthony fought for women’s right to vote alongside men on Election Day. 2020 marks not only 100 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment but also Susan B. Anthony’s 200th birthday and the 100th birthday of the League of Women Voters.
In honor of these historic events, Susan B. Anthony is coming to the Mattatuck Museum. Actress Sheryl Faye is renowned for vividly bringing to life notable women such as Sally Ride, Helen Keller, Amelia Earhart, Eleanor Roosevelt, Anne Frank and others. In her one-woman shows, she immerses the audience in a multimedia learning experience that captivates viewers and sparks their interest to explore more. Learn about her fight for women’s rights and the abolition of slavery. Design your own “Votes for Women” sash.
