Charles Ethan Porter (1847-1923)

Director of Education, Heather Whitehouse will present a talk on the life of Connecticut artist Charles Ethan Porter, best known for still life paintings of meticulous realism and rich colors, Charles Porter was born to a free African American family in Rockville, Connecticut in 1847. His early interest in drawing was matched by inspiration found in his mother’s garden and the Connecticut fields and woodlands.  View his work that spans over his lifetime before and after Paris.

In order to participate, we recommend that you download the Zoom app on a laptop or tablet before the presentation, and get into the Zoom room a few minutes early to address any technical problems. Registered participants will receive a link with the meeting URL via email.
