SCHOOL’S OUT! -School Day off Series

School might be out for the day, but the fun is still IN at The MATT! Drop-off your child for these fun-filled single-day experiences. Children will be immersed in the Museum’s galleries and special exhibitions while learning about history and developing their art skills with unique materials and techniques. Join us for this fun, safe, and educational childcare offering on days you might not get off!

November 2: Paint the Change
Celebrate the history of art in presidential campaign posters while learning about what it takes to create your very own campaign at the Mattatuck Museum! Kids will explore the Mattatuck Museum’s Collecting Presidential History exhibit for inspiration and then create their very own campaign art for their favorite food, animal, vacation spot – whatever they choose! Their campaign creations will include buttons, flags, posters and more!
October 11: Celebrate Indigenous People’s Day @ The MATT
Celebrate Indigenous People’s Day Learn more about the history and future of the indigenous people of Connecticut, including Waterbury and the Naugatuck Valley at the Mattatuck Museum! Kids will create their own story stones to learn about the importance of Indigenous oral history. They’ll then explore the Mattatuck Museum’s galleries to reflect on the stories that are told through art.
Explore various science topics with hands-on activities that result in awesome artwork at the Mattatuck Museum! Join us for a day full of STEAM fun, unveiling the connections between science and art while learning more about the Mattatuck Museum’s unique collections.
