Reception includes a complimentary glass of wine and shared appetizers as the conversation continues.
Tour notes provided and tours will proceed rain or shine. Participants are invited to park in the large lot on Park Place behind the YMCA and meet at the first stop on the tour. Limited to 18 participants (first come, first served). Pre-registration required.
The Mattatuck Museum received support for this project from the State Historic Preservation Office with funds from the Community Investment Account of the State of Connecticut.
Around The Green
The Green was the city’s first center, with the buildings around it representing residences, churches, and public spaces. It still displays an attractive array of commercial, institutional, ecclesiastical and residential architecture as well as monuments and handsome landscape design. Meet in front of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (74 West Main Street), for a walk inside. This tour includes a look inside St. John’s Episcopal Church and extends down West Main Street to the glorious Palace Theater.
